ECI 2.0 - European Competence Initiative - Early Childhood Intervention
Skill training to Empower Teachers, Health Professionals and Social Workers

What is ECI2.0?
European Competence Initiative – Early Childhood Intervention (ECI2.0) is
  • a "Transfer of Innovation" Project within the EU LLP (Lifelong Learning Programme)
  • targeting vocational education and training (VET) in the area of early childhood intervention professionals,
  • funded by the European Union through the Turkish National Agency for Lifelong Learning,
  • carried out by 9 partner organisations from 5 European countries (Austria, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Slovakia, Turkey)
  • and coordinated by the Turkish organisation "Bizden Sonra Education Foundation" (BISEV).
ECI2.0 aims to increase skills of professionals working in ECI by concrete skill transfer and availability of "ready to take training programs" as well as quality monitoring of trainings by online assessments.
ECI2.0 in the long-term therefore provides developmental and parental support to children with established disabilities or at risk to prevent further impairments and empower full participation.

The main obectives of the project are:
  • Transfer of EU knowledge towards (production of) systematic and "ready to take" training programs for frontline professionals
  • Integration of a strong ICT (Web2.0) component in terms of a "social community of practice" concerning skill training
  • Transfer of the (produced) working materials - using EU resources and web 2.0 tools - to frontline professionals
  • Transfer of existing assessment tools concerning the quality and monitoring of training processes in the field

Results / Tools:
The main project outputs of ECI 2.0 are
  • "Ready to take training materials" for ECI professionals (and indirectly for families)
    (available in several languages, finalisation 12/2012)
  • ICT Training Tools consisting of
    • Online Resource Pool (documets & multimedia library, avail. 03/2012)
    • Online Training Platform (for live online classes avail. 05/2012)
  • Online Assessment Tool: an online tool to monitor VET aspects for frontline educational professionals (avail. 12/2012)
